Diskusia: Vrstvenie času. Kreativita, rod a pokročilý vek v širších súvislostiach

The discussion will focus on the gender-based experience of aging with a specific emphasis on female aging in the context of creation and creativity.

It is based on the belief that although age is a fundamental sociodemographic characteristic of a modern person, aging in social schemes is still subject to gender pre-determination. Old age, like gender identity, can be viewed as a culturally constructed concept, the content of which changes in different times and systems of social reproduction.

The discussion will therefore focus primarily on the experience of female authors 65+. It will open up the largely still taboo topics of ageism, the feminization of old age, the marginalization of older female artists, social extinction and cultural aging, as well as the broader sociological contexts of active older age. It will connect the lines of age and gender, which affect women's artistic creation, and will try to find answers to how art, sociology, philosophy and their related theories deal with this issue.

📚 At the end of the discussion, a monographic publication for the exhibition will be launched.
