Diskusia : Zviera, ktoré teda som /Rómerov dom/

The book The Animal That I Am (Iris, 2025) by the French philosopher Jacques Derrida is a pioneering book in the field of animal ethics. It is one of the first works that deals with animal ethics. The animal is defined here as an Other, as an ethical subject. But the author of the work here defines himself as an animal, specifically as an autobiographical animal. Here, Derrida deconstructs the discourse on animals from Aristotle, Porphyry, Descartes to Lacan. The book was translated from French by Alžbeta Kuchtová from the Philosophical Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Only three of Derrida's works have been translated into Slovak so far, so this is a unique event in the field of translation. In addition to the translator, Prof. Bednárová and doc. Truhlářová from the Institute of World Literature SAS.
