Hedy Lamarr was one of the most dazzling women of the 20th century – she was both a brilliant inventor and a glamorous Hollywood star. She embodied the era's ideal of beauty, was a scandal-plagued superstar and the owner of a visionary patent.
Nothing in Between sheds light on the life of this remarkable woman who was searching for her place in the male-dominated world of film and science. The monodrama captures the ups and downs of her life, her rise to fame and the personal challenges she faced both professionally and personally.
Despite all the obstacles, Hedy Lamarr resolutely continued on her path and sought fulfillment and happiness until her death.
The monologues, created by the London author Mark Brown, connect the musical repertoire, accompanied by Bernd Leichtfried on the piano and Cäcilia Altenberger on the cello. Songs of the Wiener Lied, French chanson and swing genres were specially arranged for this program and underline important moments in Hedy Lamarr's life.
Nothing in Between is a tribute to Hedy Lamarr and all women who fight for their happiness and pursue their dreams, regardless of social norms or expectations.
In English with Slovak and German texts.
Texts by Janine Hickl were written in collaboration with Mark Brown.
In cooperation with the Coordination and Methodology Center for the Prevention of Violence against Women.
