About event
The premiere of the production of the Inheritance of the Ephemera theater group is a stylized probe into the life of a community where fears, prejudices and indifference are inherited along with property. Inspired by true events, the story reveals layers of social stereotypes and moral lukewarmness - sometimes wrapped in compassion, sometimes presented raw.
The story takes place in the forgotten village of Bergács, where "order" is defined by racial and social boundaries. The successful doctor András' return home triggers a chain of confrontations - not only with local conditions, but also with his own past and unspoken traumas. The production asks: Where does good intentions end and convenient alibism begin?
Unwritten rules apply in the village of Bergács. The "decent" ones live in houses and make decisions, the "smell-soaked" ones are beyond the border. András returns to this environment - a successful doctor who left as a child for a better future. He faces not only local discrimination, but also a reluctance to ask about the true fate of children who "got a chance".
The lines between compassion, hypocrisy and systemic failure are blurring. The production reveals the complex tangle of identity, responsibility and silence.
