About event

"Feel free to find love here. As much as you want. You came for experience and new feelings. But you won't take them home from here! The city will stay here, they would kill you outside."

What are safe places for LGBTIQ+ people?
Are there any places where they can be themselves without fear and anxiety?

PARA_NONNORMAL explores gay relationships and lives in hidden spaces – heterotopias, where those who feel the need to hide their identity find refuge. In the past, they were monasteries, women's orders, knightly orders, pirate ships, later men's clubs, women's associations, secret bars and saloons. These places represented heterotopias – places where LGBTIQ+ people created survival strategies, a safe environment to survive and live their lives despite the adversity of the times. The production transports us to the gloom of a city park after dark, a gay sauna, the world of online dating and a small basement apartment for just one. These environments provide anonymity or safety as well as a sense of imprisonment, as love and identity must remain hidden.
Responding to the terrorist attack on Zámocká Street, where two queer people were murdered, the production emphasizes the fragility and importance of safe places for the LGBTIQ+ community.
