About event
The legendary show is back on stage!
A socialist man is not a homosexual.
The production Socialism with a warm face tells about how queer people lived under socialism. It takes place in the 1980s during normalization.
A young man comes to the capital with the desire to be cured of homosexuality. On the street, he meets a strange group that is different and does not fit into the gray average of socialism. It is about Alex, who has a secret lover, Zlatica and Básnik, who live together. He gradually becomes familiar with the places and ways in which these invisible and non-existent people survive.
Will the socialist healthcare system cure him? Will traditional marriages break down? Will the ŠTB catch him in its pink list trap?
👥 The production was created on the basis of interviews of memorialists from the LGBTI community, for which we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
🤝 The NOMANTINELS theater and the DPM theater collaborated on the creation and realization. republic, Hungary and Serbia, where the play will also be presented due to the similarity of the experiences of life in socialism.
