Divadlo Pôtoň - Terra Apathy @ KZO

Terra Apathy draws on the story of the village of Horné Opatovce, which after the construction of aluminumi 🏭 in Žiar nad Hronom faced an ecological disaster. The production of aluminum was launched in 1953 and the first visible consequences of the ecological disaster were manifested a year later. First, all bees died 🐝. Suddenly and without exceptions. No one admitted that it could be just the beginning. Some beekeepers even bought new bee colonies. In the same year they died. In winter he attacked black snow ❄️. A year later, cows did not return from the meadows 🐃. They brought them on the car. All fruit trees dry out in the village and all coniferous trees in the surrounding mountains. Residents have frequent fractures of the limbs, children fall out of teeth and hair, the windows on the houses are dull…

The process of extinction of Upper Opatovce lasted eighteen years - in 1969 the municipality was destroyed and deleted from the map by resolution. Layers and hills of waste material from aluminum production have created a lunar landscape.

The theater production Terra Apathy performed by the Potoň Theater can be seen on Sunday 27 April at 6 pm in the club behind the curtain (space directly on stage). It will be a chamber theater experience, which we sell only a few dozen tickets with free seating.
