There is a theory that we walk through the world with a happiness deficit. Perhaps it is enough to supplement it a little. Only 0.5 per thousand is enough... A funny, yet cruelly honest Nordic tragicomedy, it talks about losing and finding joy in the everyday gray of life. Excellent actors - men in their prime - Marián Miezga, Ady Hajdu, Braňo Deák and Róbert Jakab will keep us entertained and thinking. Experience an intense experiment that begins as an innocent game and ends with lasting consequences.
🫂 Four friends, four high school teachers find themselves at a crossroads in life. Burnout caught them at the top and led to the resignation of dreams and ambitions. For them, monotonous days drag on in an endless stereotype of duties. Taunts from students, sometimes teasing remarks at home, their own reflection in the mirror that they don't recognize. A status quo that must one day inevitably crack. An opportunity presents itself at the 40th birthday party of one of them, when they discover a bold, and somewhat risky, theory of a Norwegian philosopher. She claims that a person is born with a deficiency of 0.5 percent alcohol in the blood. The solution is regular supplementation, which leads to higher self-confidence, creativity, drive and satisfaction. In short, everything that the four happy men and dusty teachers want. So why not try it for yourself?
🍸 The glasses are being filled, the level on the alcohol testers is fluctuating, the experiment is hopefully starting. The theory seems to be working — life becomes more colorful, self-image is corrected, the deadening routine is broken. How about increasing the dose? Will the results be even more dazzling? Will they be able to reach the ignition point that the theory mentions? And what if their joyous dancing suddenly turns to pitiful stumbling? When is the drink in their hands and when is the alcohol in their hands?
A story based on the script and theatrical adaptation by one of the most important creators of Nordic cinema and drama, Thomas Vinterberg, director of the award-winning works Rodinná oslava and Hon. In 2020, the film version of Booze won the Oscar for the best foreign language film, several awards at the European Film Awards and was seen by many viewers around the world.
