About event
Dear stokári,
in March, we invite you to the production presented by the Blaho Uhlár Institute: TMA.
The creators of the legendary Stoka Theater continue on the path that Blaho Uhlár shaped together with them. After his death, the troupe decided to honor his memory by saying that productions created after his life will no longer be presented under the banner of Divadlo Stoka. Instead, a new ensemble name is being created - the Blaha Uhlára Institute (IBU).
The first production under the banner of the IBU is a project created in co-production with the Divadelná Nitra Association, which will premiere at the Stoka Theater and at the same time at the prestigious Divadelná Nitra festival. Uhlára.
The production Tma balances on the border between reality and a surreal image of the world, in which the grotesque and tragic moments of human existence are intertwined. The dark stage space evokes the inner worlds of the characters – fear, uncertainty, manipulation – while richly colored figures magically emerge from this black void, contrasting with the gloomy atmosphere.
The dramaturgy of the production draws on free improvisation and polythematic decomposition. Fragmentary dialogues full of emotional tension are dynamically interwoven with expressive physical acting and artistic actions. The visual concept is constantly changing – mists, disappearing characters, psychedelic elements and aggressive sound dramaturgy create a dream, a nightmare or an absurd ritual.
Darkness is a theatrical experience that provokes, fascinates and disturbs. In the spirit of Blah Uhlár's poetics, he combines rough grotesque with existential questions, while not avoiding extreme emotions. It draws the viewer into a world where the boundaries between play and reality are constantly blurring, and dives into the dark corners of the human psyche.
