WILD GORGE - A ROMANTIC EXPERIENCE IN THE HEART OF NATURE
When you leave Mezná and head along the Kamenice river, it is as if you have passed through an invisible gate to a completely different world. The cool shade of the rocks, the sound of water and a boatman with a joke that would stand up to a stand-up. Here, the sandstone walls exceed tens of meters in places, the water rushes over the boulders, the smell of the forest surrounds and in the boat it seems as if all worries have melted away.
DWARF ROCK
In the beautiful landscape of Czech Switzerland, there is a rock massif called Dwarf Rock. It owes its name to the dwarves carved into the rocks. They are the work of Eduard and Ernst Vater.
The work was started by Eduard Vater, a local folk artist, who carved the work into the rocks in 1832-1833. It was later completed by his son Ernst, a chronicler, and a board near the rocks tells visitors that the work was created in 1870.
The dwarfs and Snow White look down from the slopes of the mountain. The first part of the trip to the dwarves leads up the wooden staircase to the rock and further along the path along the narrow stairs in its grip, where individual colorful dwarves appear. The top of the rocks is suitable for a stop and a little rest and offers a view of the surrounding forests and the winding road below. A visit to the Dwarf Rock is especially popular with children, who discover their favorite fairy-tale characters in the carved reliefs.
PAVLINO VALLEY
A very popular tourist spot by the Chřibská Kamenice stream. The entire valley begins in the west at Studený potok and meanders romantically around the sandstone slopes and the mouth near the former Griesl mill, which is currently a recreational facility. On the western edge in front of the pond, you can see a rocky niche called Rusalčina jeskyně. The entire valley is home to rare fauna and flora, especially the horsetail, river otter, kingfisher and black stork.
