We invite you to a guided walk that will take you through the history and present of one of the largest industrial areas of Prague - the former engineering giant ČKD. Our journey will begin at the Kolbenova metro station, where we will learn about the history and current state of this area. Opposite the subway is the last functional foundry, which is still a witness of the once flourishing empire.
Then we will go along Kolbenova street towards Vysočany, where we will visit the northern part of the former plant. On site, we will work with a period map from the 1970s and pass by one of the few cultural monuments in the area. The route continues to the hidden church in the courtyard, which was built by the same construction companies as the surrounding factories.
In the next part, we will move to the southern part, where the factories of the former Praga car factory were located. Here we take a look at a few accessible halls that are otherwise not open to the public. At the end, we will have an excursion to the E Factory hall, where we will see the dining room (now the Great Hall) and finish the tour in the cafe there.
What you will see on the route (the program may vary slightly depending on the current conditions)
- The last functional AGMA foundry (exterior only)
- Former factory buildings along Kolbenova street
- ČKD northern part and former health center center
- Area plan from the 70s of the last century
- The normally inaccessible Church of Christ the King built by the same companies as the surrounding factories
- The area where the oldest foundries were located
- Historic halls C. 19 and 11b in the Pragovka area
- Building E Factory – dining room (Great Hall), Pražská Továrna and the Factory Kafe café
There will also be an opportunity to look at the book "Do Kolbenka" - a quirky guide around this area, which you can also purchase.
The walk starts at 1:00 p.m. and will last approximately 2.5 hours.
The number of participants is limited to 30.
