About event
SI, I, PL, SRB, A 2024, 86 min., OmeU, Director: Maja Doroteja Prelog
A filmmaker begins a project intended to celebrate her partner's triumph over a fatal illness - only to find that the focus increasingly turns to herself and the breakup of their relationship.
After surviving the diagnosis of a terminal illness, Blaž undertakes a debilitating one of his own Giro d’Italia to celebrate his victory. He is accompanied by his partner, the filmmaker Maja Doroteja Prelog. It is intended to document the triumphant bike ride. What was originally planned as a trip from the Dolomites to Sicily and was intended to show an act of self-empowerment soon turns into a journey of the couple to themselves. The focus shifts and Maja's camera increasingly focuses on their perception and their needs. Directly in front of the camera lens, the relationship between the two slowly unravels - and we witness a courageous examination of one's own self and the question of what it really means to be together.
Cent'anni is an emotional rollercoaster ride full of touching confessions and poetic images in the midst of breathtaking natural landscapes - an unfiltered testimony of love and change.
The debut film by the Slovenian director Maja Doroteja Prelog (*1988) was shown at numerous international film festivals, for example in Sarajevo, Los Angeles and Cannes and received several awards, including the audience award for best film at the Trieste Film Festival or the Docs-in-Progress Award for best documentary at Cannes Docs.
Followed by a conversation with the director Maja Doroteja Prelog.
A EUNIC event by the Slovenian cultural center SKICA Berlin, the Institut français and the Czech Center Berlin.
