Dóm sv. Martina (exteriér + interiér) | Bratislavské potulky

Dome of St. Martina has accompanied us with its history since the first half of the 13th century and is one of the most important monuments of Bratislava.
It witnessed the coronations of Hungarian kings, survived many reconstructions, wars and historical twists and still preserves stories that reveal its majestic past to us.

During our wanderings, we will immerse ourselves in the history of this cathedral and get to know its architectural development - from humble beginnings through Gothic modifications to its present form. We will take a closer look at how and why its tower, presbytery, chapels and entrance portals changed and grew. We will focus on the unique symbols, epitaphs and artistic details that decorate the interior and exterior of the Cathedral, and we will talk about their hidden meanings.

We will also not forget the wider historical context – we will imagine the now defunct Vydrická Gate and other lost objects that once completed the panorama of this part of the city. In addition, we will return to the stories about the construction of the cathedral, important events, coronations and power struggles that shaped Bratislava and its inhabitants.

During the tour of the interior, we will focus on various details, altars, chapels, crypts, personalities....

The tour of the interior will include:
- rental of headphones in the interior
- visit to the Parish Sacristy,
- visit to the Canons' Chapel
- visit to the jewelry store on the upper floor (No photography!)
- left part of the choir
- entrance to the crypt
- guide services - interior and exterior for 2 hours together


In the entrance fee for the date 8.11. a mandatory ticket to visit the interior is also included (€5, seniors: €2.50) - we buy one at a time in Martineu before entering the interior.
No additional payments will be charged after online ticket purchase.
Tickets are available exclusively online with a limited capacity of people - until sold out.

The length of the commented tour exterior + interior will last approx. 2 hours.

In case of non-participation, the entrance fee will not be refunded and it is not possible to transfer the ticket to another lecture or tour.
