We invite you to a screening of the short documentary film Home, the basis of life, and to a subsequent discussion about the film.

The documentary Home the basis of life focuses on the innovative practice of guaranteed housing in the Czech Republic through the stories of people in housing need. This approach effectively connects apartment owners with households in urgent need of a roof over their heads. A key role in this process is played by the guarantor, which can be either a municipality or a non-profit organization. The film presents how this system works and the benefits it brings to all parties involved. It examines the reasons why guaranteed housing is successful and how it can contribute to solving housing affordability problems. It provides the audience with an insight into practice, which is proving to be an effective tool in the fight against the housing shortage.
The film was shot by the Platform for Social Housing in cooperation with the Romodrom organization and the creative production group Remízek in 2024. The Platform for Social Housing is an umbrella organization bringing together almost 120 organizations and experts dealing with social housing and striving for solving the housing shortage of various target groups. The platform has many years of experience in supporting the introduction and development of integrated social housing systems in a number of cities (and not only) in the Czech Republic. In the Chamber of Deputies there is now a Law on Housing Support, the adoption of which would contribute to solve the housing shortage. One of the instruments of the law is guaranteed housing. Come to the screening to express your support for the adoption of the Housing Support Act.
