About event
In the evening dedicated to Renata Laxová, a doctor, scientist and university teacher in the field of pediatric genetics, which this year is awarded in memoriam the Brno City Award in the field of merit of freedom and democracy ". Renata Laxová came from the Brno Jewish family. She was one of Winton's so -called children. After seven years, she returned to Czechoslovakia to her parents who also survived the Holocaust. After studying medicine, she specialized in pediatrics and medical genetics. In 1968 she and her husband-first and two daughters emigrated. They lived in England for several years, and in 1975 they went to the United States. In Madison, Wisconsin, where a local university became her location, she lived almost until her death. All her life she felt a moral duty to talk about the Holocaust with young generations. She lectured on this topic at American secondary schools and universities. She told her life story in Alexander (Letter to Alexander), who wrote for her grandson in 2001. In discussion with Anita Laxová, daughter of Mrs. Renata Laxová, who arrives in Brno, there will be excerpts from the memoir book and interviews with her mother .
