EVENT PROGRAM

08:30 - 09:00 | Registration

09:00 - 10:15 | PANEL 1: How to ensure affordable transport in the era of decarbonisation

Transport is changing rapidly — it is being pushed by decarbonisation, new regulations and rising prices. The question is no longer just how to reduce emissions, but whether everyday mobility will remain affordable and practically accessible to most people.
In a country where only 1 percent of households own an electric car, in addition to technological visions, it is necessary to pay attention to functioning public transport, pedestrian and bicycle mobility and how these systems should be set up so that after the introduction of ETS2 they do not lead to social exclusion, especially in regions and smaller municipalities.

The focus of the discussion will be the question of how to invest European resources in solutions that will actually make it easier for people to commute every day - to work, school or to the doctor - instead of short-term compensations that only postpone the problem.

The panel will focus on concrete solutions: the functioning of regional and suburban transport, interchanges, integrated tariffs, urban mobility and alternative forms of transport.

Panelists:

-Marek Engeľ, Director General, Institute of Environmental Policy, Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic
-Tomáš Chabada, co-founder and analyst Institut 2050
-Dan Kollár, president of Cykkoalícia
-Rebeka Hengalová, researcher of the Green Europe program of the EUROPEUM Institute
-Patrik Gažo, researcher, CELSI (Central European Labor Studies) Institute)

Moderated by Irena Jenčová, senior editor of the portal euBrief.sk

10:15 - 10:40 | Coffee Break

10:40 - 12:00 | PANEL 2: View from municipalities - Inspiring projects in transport

Transport is one of the areas that fundamentally affects life in the territory. Municipalities - whether local or regional - are faced with a whole range of challenges, for which they do not always have the reach or resources. The panel will present diverse projects and experiences of several municipalities, including those that offer atypical perspectives and reflect the dynamic changes that the entire sector is going through.

Panelists:

-Ján Forgáč, Vice-Mayor of Trenčín
-Branislav Zacharides, Mayor of Vrútky, Member of the European Committee of Regions
-Martina Repíková, Advisor of the Union of Slovak Cities for Energy
-Martin Samek, Technical Director, Road Administration of Bratislava Autonomous Region

Moderated by Zuzana Gabrižová, editor-in-chief of the portal euBrief.sk
