About event
You can't trust love. Růžena and Vojtěch fell in love at first sight, but their fathers have other plans for them.
Dráteník by František Škroupa is a comic opera in two acts with a libretto by a Czech poet and translator Josef Krasoslav Chmelenský (1800–1839). It had its premiere on February 2, 1826 in Prague's Estates Theater. At Škroup's instigation, Chmelenský drew up a libretto relatively quickly and submitted it to Škroup for setting to music. He completed the score for the opera, adapted from the conventions of the Viennese singspiel and the French opéra-comique, sometime before the end of 1825, and considering it his first important composition, he assigned it opus number 1. He himself then staged and performed Dráteník in it in the title tenor role. The premiere of the first original Czech opera was perceived as a first-class social event and was attended by the most important personalities of Czech cultural life.
Performed in the Czech original.
