About event
The iconic New York band consisting of James LaBrie, John Myung, John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy and Jordan Rudess is hitting the road for its 40th anniversary. The European part of this tour does not miss Bratislava! Slovak fans can look forward to a concert at the Incheba Expo Arena on Wednesday, October 30.
GRAMMY® award winners and true giants of progressive rock and metal have announced a spectacular concert series in their native New York under the name 40th Anniversary Tour 2024 – 2025. It will be massive and time-opulent performances in the style of An Evening With Dream Theater, which will begin in October in Europe and will be primarily marked by the return of one of the founding members of the band.
Drummer Mike Portnoy returned to Dream Theater after thirteen long years. He will be joined on the tour by singer James LaBrie, bassist John Myung, guitarist John Petrucci and keyboardist Jordan Rudess. This is a cult line-up that played together for the first time in 1999 on the album Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory, which is rightly considered one of the most important progressive rock albums of all time. Dream Theater last recorded the studio work Black Clouds & Silver Linings in this line-up. It was in 2009 and it was Dream Theater's tenth consecutive album. They are currently in the middle of recording their sixteenth album.
In the case of this concert, it will be the fourth visit of Dream Theater to Slovakia; however, it will be the first time in Bratislava's Incheba Expo Arena. Demanding fans of progressive rock and metal can thus look forward to a truly high-quality sound, which this music full of instrumental balance and breakneck arrangements deserves. Drummer legend Mike Portnoy will be introduced to Slovak fans for the first time in the line-up of Dream Theater. His unmistakable energetic style of a restless devil constantly jumping out from behind a huge set of drums will undoubtedly be the decoration of a concert evening. Every concert will undoubtedly be filled with expectations and a whole range of different emotions. We can't wait for the moment when we step on stage again in the fall and together with all of you start this historic celebration of the 40th anniversary of Dream Theater."
