About event

🌈 Rainbow and without barriers: where does queerness and living with a disability intersect?

What barriers do queer people with a disability or mental illness experience? What does double discrimination mean and what can a truly inclusive society look like that takes seriously the diversity of bodies, identities and experiences and actively removes the barriers that prevent people from living a full life?

Come to Pride House on Friday 7th August from 17:00 for an open debate, which we are organizing in collaboration with the Alarm newspaper.

Together we will focus on the often neglected intersection of queerness and cripness. We will talk about the barriers that LGBTQI+ people with disabilities encounter in healthcare, social services or education, about the effects of intersectional discrimination and how institutions can better respect the human rights of individuals whose experiences do not fit into one-dimensional categories.

🎙️ Speakers:
• Natálie Ficencová – human rights education expert at Amnesty International
• Josie Kodet – queer psychologist and psychotherapist in training
• Kateřina Kolářová – academic and researcher

The debate is moderated by the editor of Alarm Magdaléna Dušková.

The event will be interpreted into Czech sign language and the space is barrier-free. Interpretation is provided by the Tichý svět organization.

📍 When: August 7 | 17:00–18:30
