Talks & discussions

About event

Interview with interesting guests, where we debate ideas from books and our life & professional experiences. The inspiration for the November theme is the book title Everything that unites us.

What will the experience of being labeled "other/other" do to you during adolescence?
Do we as Slovaks have a collective identity?
If we shift the focus from our differences to our similarities, what will it bring us?
What are the main factors that allow us to trust each other?
What about us as people unites?
What holds the country together and what does it fall apart?
What can we as individuals do for the common good?

The first guest is the author of the book Everything that unites us, a visual artist and photographer, Kvet Nguyen. He will share with us his experience of finding his own identity and the challenges of integrating into Slovak culture.

The director of the DEKK Institute, Pavol Kosnáč, will also sit in the guest chair with us. At the institute, research deals with topics such as social cohesion, trust and social values, which give us data on whether we are cohesive as a society.

At the end, there will be a book signing of the book Everything that connects us. If you have your own at home, feel free to bring it with you.

In the bookstore, we have put together an eye-catching book table with titles on the topic "What unites people", for the guests of the discussion with a 10% discount.
