About event

To the cinema or the theatre? Why decide! Kino Utajeno offers its visitors a comprehensive cultural experience.

A carefully curated November evening combines a film screening with a participatory theater and a night tour of the location. Attentive viewers will not miss the gamified elements, which are an important part of the concept.

As part of November's soulful Kino Utajeno event, we will take you to the New Ceremonial Hall at the Olšan Cemetery, the architect of which was František Velich. The new ceremonial hall was built at the end of the 19th century as an Evangelical sanctuary for the adjacent non-Catholic part of the cemetery. Since 1919, when the law was changed and cremation became possible, Prague as the capital was faced with the problem of how to solve the construction of a crematorium as quickly as possible. So the sanctuary was converted into a crematorium. However, the name New Ceremonial Hall is somewhat misleading, as this hall is older than the Strašnice Crematorium, which was built in 1932 as more modern and significantly larger.

And with which picture do we connect this location? It remains secret!
