Together with the Department of Portuguese Studies at the Faculty of Arts, UK, we cordially invite you to a block of lectures on Brazilian literature by two Brazilian academics - Raísa Inocêncio and Raffaela Fernandez.

Raísa Inocêncio is a Brazilian researcher who received her PhD in Philosophy at the University of Toulouse (France) with his dissertation: "Dis-moi Vénus, pourquoi chassent-ils les femmes?" During 2023, she actively participated in seminars at the Université Gaston Berger (Senegal), the Universidad San Martín (Argentina), the I Virtual Symposium on Decolonial Practice (University of Riverside, California) and the meeting for the 40th anniversary of the Brazilian Association of Postgraduate Researchers ANPOF (Fortaleza , Brazil). In 2022, together with Karina Bidaseca, she co-edited the book "Lélia Gonzalez: Por um feminismo améfricain". In addition, she works as a translator (Ana Mendieta, "Un oiseau de l'océan," Nau Éditeur, 2021). In addition to her academic activities, Raísa is also an artist and activist focused on supporting the defense and healing of colonial wounds. As part of his activism, he organizes solidarity events to raise funds for the Pataxó Health Project in Bahia, co-financed by the Occitanie region in France. He is actively involved in research and contributes to research groups such as Maria Carolina de Jesus (UFRJ, Brazil), Réseau Lélia Gonzalez (Universidade de Brasília, Brazil) and Epistemology of the South (CLACSO, Argentina).
Raffaella Fernandez is a researcher at the Institute of Brazilian Studies at USP and a member of the editorial board of Companhia das Letras, which organizes and publishes the complete works of Carolina Maria de Jesus. He has a postdoctorate in Cultural Studies and Decoloniality from PACC/UFRJ (2020). She is the author of the book "A Poética dos Résidus de Carolina de Jesus", which is based on her doctoral research work in the field of literary theory and history at the University of Campinas (Unicamp). She contributed to the organization of Carolina's posthumously published books, such as "Where art thou, happiness?" (2014/2022), "My dream is to write" (2018), "Clíris, Collected Poems" (2019), "Firm House" (2021), "Slave" (2023) and published a number of articles and essays in Brazil and abroad about manuscripts and typescripts of the same author. Raísa Inocêncio é uma investigatoria brasileira que obteve o seu doutoramento em Filosofia pela Universidade de Toulouse (França) com a sua tese: "Dis-moi Vénus, pourquoi chassent-ils les femmes?" Ao longo de 2023, participou ativamente em seminários at the Université Gaston Berger (Senegal), at the Universidad San Martín (Argentina), no I Simpósio Virtual sobre Práxis Decolonial (University of Riverside, California) and at the meeting commemorativa dos 40 anos da Associação Nacional de Post-Graduação em Filosofia (ANPOF) (Fortaleza, Brasil). Em 2022, coeditou, com Karina Bidaseca, about livro "Lélia Gonzalez: Por um feminismo améfricain". Besides that, he worked as a translator (Ana Mendieta, "Un oiseau de l'océan", Nau Éditeur, 2021). Para além das suas ativatisas académicas, Raísa é artista e ativista, concentrando-se no apoio à defesa e à cura de feridas colonialais. Como parte do seu activismo, organiza eventos de solidariedade para angariar fundos para o Projeto de Saúde Pataxó na Bahia, cofinanciado pela região de Occitânia, em França. Envolvida ativamente em comunidades de investigation, contribute para groups como Maria Carolina de Jesus (UFRJ, Brasil), Réseau Lélia Gonzalez (Universidade de Brasília, Brasil), e Epistemologias do Sul (CLACSO, Argentina).

Possession of post-doctorate in Cultural Studies and Decoloniality by PACC/UFRJ (2020). She is the author of "A Poética dos Résidus de Carolina de Jesus", based on her doctoral research in Theory and Literary History at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp). Contributiu para a organization dos livros póstumos de Carolina intitulados “Onde Estás Felicidade?” (2014/2022), “Meu Sonho é Escrever” (2018), “Clíris, Poemas Recolhidos” (2019), “Casa de Alvenaria” (2021), “O Escravo” (2023), e publicou várias artios e ensaios no Brasil e no estrangeiro sobre os manuscritos e datiloscritos da mesma autora. Coordena o Grupo de Investigação Decolonial Carolina de Jesus @estudosdecoloniaiscmj.
