About event
My neighborhood library, the [Midland branch](https://multcolib.org/hours-and-locations/midland-library) at SE 122nd and Morrison, recently completed a lengthy renovation, and I've begun organizing a monthly board game meetup in the new community meeting rooms. Our last event had sixteen attendees and saw plays of [No Thanks](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12942/no-thanks), [Azul: Summer Pavilion](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/287954/azul-summer-pavilion), [Scout](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/291453/scout), [The Crew: Mission Deep Sea](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/324856/the-crew-mission-deep-sea), [Bus](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/552/bus), [Mushroom Cats](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/362710/mushroom-cats), [Trekking the World](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/300442/trekking-the-world), [Splendor](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/148228/splendor), and [Project L](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/260180/project-l).
For September, I've reserved a space for the afternoon of Sunday, September 7th, and I'd love for anyone that's interested to come join us! We'll be returning to Room 1B, one of the large meeting rooms near the front of the building. These rooms are explicitly for community use and open to the public, so I'm hoping for a pretty friendly, relaxed gathering. So far there's been a mix of interest in shorter/lighter games and longer, more involved games, and we've been able to organize pretty organically without anyone having to wait too long. Still, if you're interested in something longer or more complex, I'd suggest arriving at the beginning so we can get that going from the jump.
September, of course, marks the birth of Mr. Bilbo Baggins and his younger cousin Frodo, so I'll bring a few Tolkien-themed titles, like [The Fellowship of the Ring: Trick-taking Game](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/429293/the-fellowship-of-the-ring-trick-taking-game), [The Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/3201/lord-of-the-rings-the-confrontation), and [War of the Ring: The Card Game](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/362944/war-of-the-ring-the-card-game). I'll also bring back Bus, [Daybreak](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/334986/daybreak), and some lighter selections. And of course, please feel free to bring games of your own!
The library itself is quite nice, especially after its recent facelift, and is just a couple minutes' walk from the 20-Burnside bus and a maybe a five or ten minute walk from the 122nd Ave Blue Line MAX stop. As far as food options, [Bridge City Taproom](https://maps.app.goo.gl/JMXk4Ny381xG7QD76) is right across the street, there's [Just Tea](https://maps.app.goo.gl/GoNLdzCVY2LtZvdG8) about a block away, and [Los Francos Food Truck](https://losfrancosfoodtrucks.com/), [Don Pedro](https://donpedrorestaurant.shop/), [Victorico's](https://victoricos.com/se-portland-122nd), [Gold Garden](https://maps.app.goo.gl/FjjLYh9EUYjyTxSD8) (Chinese), and [Sisters](https://maps.app.goo.gl/JKUvdY1Y3BdQYLU38) (Ethiopian) all within a few blocks.
Alright, I think that's everything for the moment. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I hope I'll see you there!
