On Thursday, June 18, the Fotograf Zone gallery will open the Babetta 207 exhibition by Edy Babák, a graduate of the bachelor program of the F2 UMPRUM studio.
The project follows the renovation of the legendary Czechoslovak moped in a way that goes far beyond technical documentation. It is a story of friendship, joint work and a community that is formed around machines, keys and greasy hands.
Edy Babák's exhibition, awarded the Czech Grand Design 2026 in the Discovery of the Year category, is based on a specific renovation process, which the author is working on together with his friend Tomáš. Here, Babetta is not just a technical object or a nostalgic artifact of the past. It becomes a link between two people who come from different family and social circumstances, but find a common language precisely in the concentrated work, in the patient disassembly, assembly and revival of the machine.
