"I'm a big romantic. I fall in love immediately. I can do it basically by waiting. Because I really want to. It's probably somehow related to my with my father. Or with my mother."
"... no one wants to hear that it will be difficult, and that's why we elect populists with completely idiotic promises that are unrealistic. Just like our ideas about life, so it's actually a great match." The voices of young women are heard at the hairdresser's while the hair dryer is whirring, above manicure done under the light of UV lamps... It is an unobtrusive space for confiding, a place of practical "sisterhood".
What is happening in the country places higher demands on our moral compass. Hardly built private happiness faces dilemmas and is in danger. In difficult times - between love and fear, career and parenthood, between dreams and conformity - how do young women navigate their lives? Eden stories installation. Escape from Paradise works with documentary material that unfolds into stylized interactions. It captures the experience of women in a specific period of life, which is rich in personal and social turbulence. This "theatrical research" is accompanied by the leitmotif of personal courage and connects the young women of the normalization period of the 1970s with today's women in their thirties.
Part of the concept of the work were interviews with four women who are connected, among other things, by the artistic environment and university education, but also by insight into their own destinies. They talked about their life milestones, about work, building a career, personal and family life... About ups and downs, plans for the future, about the reality of the 70s. How do they look at their attitudes and decisions today, several decades later?
We want to learn to confront our fears today, we want to understand the eternal (female) cycle and what it washes out, we want an intergenerational connection. The cycle of history and a certain cyclicality are also copied by the production form of the work. Spectators wander around the space and through individual stories, while their experiences are always different and unique due to the different actors' interpretations. Whose story are we following? In what time and space does it take place? And what does all this say about us?
