EGBERTO GISMONTI

In November 1976, Dança das Cabeças was published, the first album that guitarist Egberto Gismonti published with ECM, in a duet with percussionist Naná Vasconcelos. An unclassifiable album to the point, legend says, that in England it received an award as a pop album; in the United States it was awarded as folk music, and finally, in Germany it obtained a third distinction, now as classical music. Egberto Gismonti is that and much more, because his music is an immense ocean. Using his two instruments, the guitar and the piano, we will have him with us – in his debut at the festival, where he has never performed yet – in the intimacy of a room that will host one of the most exquisite proposals not only of our festival, but the whole music-loving year in Barcelona. Because Egberto Gismonti is, quite simply, a giant.
