Eindhoven groeit én verdicht, maar hoe dan?

Discussing the impact of growth on the changing appearance of the city and social cohesion

Between Between 2022 and 2040, 40,000 homes and 36,000 jobs will be added in Eindhoven. The city is growing not only in the center, but also in the district centers and along the high-quality public transport axes. Homes and other functions are being added throughout Eindhoven, and these are certainly not just residential towers!

Together with the municipality, on Monday, October 27 we will reflect on the impact of that growth on the changing appearance of the city and the social cohesion of districts and neighbourhoods. How do we shape the densification in a way that the character of Eindhoven remains recognizable? How do we keep connected with each other in a growing city? And what does densification mean for a city where more and more people live closer together. Space is limited and that requires sharp choices, smart use of space and good organization of the city.

During a special, free meeting in Natlab we will reflect on this complex densification puzzle. The afternoon will be introduced by Mieke Verhees (councillor for Housing, Neighborhoods, Space and Services) and will be led by Mieke Fiers (social designer, partner Morgenmakers). We conduct the conversation based on spicy statements with Eindhoven residents, colleagues, interest groups and the business community. The aim is to fuel the discussion about healthy densification in Eindhoven with a view to the municipality's Densification Program.
