Eine andere Zukunft ist möglich. Vorstellungen für ein lebenswertes Berlin

Monday, October 13, 2025, 6 p.m. | Leibniz Society

Berlin - like many metropolises - faces major challenges: social inequality, Transport transition, climate adaptation, education crisis. At the same time, this city has enormous potential: culturally, socially, ecologically, technologically. But there is often little positive to be heard about their future.

What habitually creeps in as everyday urban life actually describes a double erosion: democracy and nature conservation are coming under pressure. Most often negotiated as separate crises, they are in reality deeply intertwined. This double crisis raises fundamental questions: What does community mean today – beyond milieus and district boundaries? How do sustainable alliances arise that are more than just empty promises? What does it mean to make real connections – not as an end in itself, but as a concrete offer to an urban society? And above all: What would a city that redeems all of this look like?

A truly livable city is created where resources are not isolated next to each other, but reinforce each other: where knowledge enables action, where money enables sustainable structures, and where work and commitment lead to real self-efficacy.

At the center of the event to which the Naturwissen Network invites you is a crucial question: How do we create a city where resources are not managed as scarce goods, but rather shared and used as collective opportunities? It's about nothing less than the impact of urban coexistence - about making Berlin a place that strengthens its people and gives them the freedom to shape things together. In addition to various inputs, participants have the opportunity to actively participate in a fishbowl discussion.

We cordially invite you to become part of an exciting dialogue. Places are limited, so registration is necessary.
