About event

Flight has developed into a global policy area since the late 1970s. With the Afghanistan War, the Iran-Iraq War and the Second Gulf War, the Middle East became the center of political debates, humanitarian aid and human rights policy commitments. The study by Agnes Bresselau von Bressensdorf provides insight into the daily work of aid organizations in the region's refugee camps, their networking with the Afghan and Kurdish diaspora in Germany and Western Europe, and their importance for international politics. In this way, an overall panorama of refugees and humanitarian aid is created in this region, which to this day significantly shapes European and global refugee policy.

The presentation of the book by Agnes Bresselau von Bressensdorf (Institute for Contemporary History Munich-Berlin) is followed by a commentary by Heike Wieters (Humboldt University of Berlin). The subsequent panel discussion will be moderated by Hermann Wentker.
