Already thought of producing materials yourself that open up new possibilities in the design process? It does not matter whether you want to design objects or make fabrics. Due to the variety of materials, you can do both and more. The aim of this workshop is to give you an introduction to the world of biomaterials so that you can venture your first steps on the way to a sustainable design world.

In this workshop you will acquire:
* knowledge in the production of natural materials (bioplastic). the properties and aesthetics can be controlled.
* Make two bioplastics themselves and take home with them

target group: beginners without previous experience

Minimum age: 18 years

about the workshop director: The work of Cindy Fodor combines the worlds of fashion design, science and technology. She is known for not going the usual way. Instead of completing an internship in a tailoring or in the studio of a designer, she chose an internship in a maker space to learn 3D modeling, 3D printing and laser cut methods. After completing her internship, she was full of ideas on how to integrate this knowledge into her work. You can see their designs when you look at the details. Most of the time, she uses small laser -cut motifs that she puts on a tulle by hand, or it prints small patterns in 3D on the fabric. With this complex process, she works for weeks to create a unique couture piece. This often means applying more than 300 parts by hand, but for the designer it is a meditative process. In her last big project, she wanted to deepen her knowledge of biomaterials and therefore traveled to Milan to learn from the best of this discipline. When working with biomaterials, she takes a step back and begins the design process with the materials. She develops her own fabrics in her home laboratory. This approach enables her to explore new ways in the field of material research.
