About event
This concert program is a celebration of the elegance and poetry that characterize the music of Gabriel Fauré, one of the most sophisticated composers of the late 19th and early centuries 20th century. Fauré is known for his subtle compositions, rich in nuance and emotion, which marked the transition between Romanticism and Impressionism.
Through this musical journey we explore Fauré's universe and place his work in the context of the works of his contemporaries and predecessors. The program is built around Fauré's Nocturnes, emblematic of his lyrical and introspective style. These pieces demonstrate Fauré's ability to weave captivating melodies and delicate harmonies, creating atmospheres full of gentleness and nostalgia.
Fauré's influence extends beyond his own compositions. By incorporating works by Frédéric Chopin and Alexander Scriabin, we discover parallels in emotional expressiveness and harmonic complexity. Chopin's "Raindrop Prelude" and the dramatic first movement of Scriabin's 3rd Sonata bring an intensity reminiscent of Fauré's subtle nuances while introducing their own stylistic innovations.
Joseph Haydn's Sonata No. 59 delivers with its classic Clarity and well-defined structure provide a refreshing contrast. This inclusion allows one to appreciate the evolution of the sonata form and see how Fauré drew inspiration from it as he developed his own musical language.
Isaac Albéniz brings a touch of Spanish color with his evocative “El Albaicín.” into the program. This piece, rich in exotic rhythms and harmonies, underlines the era's fascination with exoticism and new sounds - a curiosity that Fauré also shared.
As a common thread, Fauré's Nocturnes weave a tapestry of gentleness and sophistication, of moments that offers contemplation and emotional depth. This program invites the audience to immerse themselves in Fauré's musical universe and discover the influences and resonances that enriched his work.
This concert is an invitation to rediscover Gabriel Fauré's timeless elegance and diversity and to appreciate the richness of the piano repertoire, through a harmonious dialogue between works of different but complementary horizons.
