Elmer | Simplon

Elmer is a bouncing rapper with a big mouth and a small heart. The Amsterdam rapper/theater maker combines provocative rawness, disarming honesty and the colorful world of comic books in a shameless act. Inspired by Peaches, Mr. Oizo and the Youth of Today, she (or he, or whatever you want) makes danceable hip-hop tracks with hints of electro funk and Italo disco. Elmer addresses themes such as fear of commitment, self-hatred and the hypocrisy of left-wing people, always in combination with humor, self-mockery and raunchy lyrics. Elmer is the alter ego of theater maker Merel Pauw. At a young age she was inspired by the music and cartoon world of the British band Gorillaz, which she included in the creation of the alter ego Elmer. She builds a world with its own rules in Elmer's world. A world in which expectations of what a woman looks and acts are broken. The rapper gained fame through her participation in De Slimste Mens, after which she quickly staged her first club show, Noorderslag and Lowlands.

With all that fame and a great second EP under her belt, Elmers, Elmer is ready for more. She will be going on a club tour again in the fall, and of course she will be wearing Simplon!
