About event
Emilíana Torrini will return to Bratislava after ten years with a new album
Beautiful voice and songs, behind which an extraordinary story is hidden. Icelandic musician and singer Emilíana Torrini recorded a new album Miss Flower, in which she processed the correspondence of the mysterious Miss Flower. Together with the older compositions, he and the band will play them on October 26, 2024 in Bratislava's Majestic Music Club (MMC), to which he will return after ten years. difficult to listen to, so this is certainly not true of Emilíana Torrini. Her biggest hit Jungle Drum made people dance all over the world, Gollum's Song from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers moved listeners with lyrical arrangements. The Icelandic singer always knew how to gracefully move between these positions. She caught the club atmosphere during her engagement in the well-known electronic band GusGus, and transformed intimacy and lyricism from her experience studying choral singing and classical music.
Her debut album Love in the Time of Science also attracted attention because it produced by Roland Orzabal (Tears For Fears). The triphop rhythms were reflected in a more folk expression on the next record Fisherman's Woman. Emiliáne has always been close to electronics thanks to her collaborations with Kid Koala, Paul Oakenfold and Thievery Corporation. The connection of electronics with acoustic instruments also happened on the other two Me and Armini records; Tookah. The collaboration with the Belgian ensemble The Colorist Orchestra resulted in the great live album The Colorist & Emiliana Torrini and the studio album Racing the Storm, released last year.
Emilíane Torrini announced the release of a new record Miss Flower for 2024, about which she revealed more: "Miss Flower lived an adventurous life and took an unconventional approach to marriage. She had nine proposals but never married. Men were obsessed with her, and some letters are full of such confessions, some of which are very lustful, others are very funny. This recording is composed letter by letter, so the whole story is recorded in that correspondence. I was captivated by Miss Flower when I first met her and after her death when I started reading her letters and learning more about her interesting life. Each track is inspired by a different story or person we discovered there."
Icelander E. Torrini explains that Miss Flower's intention was to make a pop electronic record with intimate vocals, as in her favorite track I´ m Your Man by Leonard Cohen. The first published single, Let's Keep Dancing, combines dance arrangements with gentle singing and discusses the meeting of two lovers during the last dance.
Listeners can't wait for the mysterious story that Emiliána Torrini will perform live on October 26 at MMC in Bratislava. She will return there after ten years to perform as part of the Danube Music Day concert series.
