Engelsmannovi v Brně – přednáška Michala Doležela

Felix Engelsmann, a prominent Brno textile entrepreneur of Jewish descent, had an elegant villa built on Hlinky at the age of 30, but because of the events of World War II he and his wife Olga could only live briefly. After the occupation of Czechoslovakia, their company was confiscated and destroyed in 1943. Felix died childless in 1950 in exile. The lecture will follow the online entry of Peter Holding, a direct descendant of the family living in Australia, which will bring the stories of the Engelsmann to their escape from the occupied Czechoslovakia - where they lived, how they coped with exile and what remained from their legacy.
