We will learn, debate, enjoy and investigate philosophers and diverse themes from the philosophical perspective. Each reunion is structured as a conversation among all attendees about that day s philosopher softly moderated by the organizer. The conversation will kick-off from the very brief suggested reading providing easy access to all attendees both to the philosopher and the conversation.
**Let´s be greek and dive today…**
**On Jean-Paul Sartre** (1905 – 1980), French philosopher, novelist and political activist and key figure in the philosophy of [existentialism](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existentialism) (and [phenomenology](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenomenology_(philosophy))). Sartre's introduction to his philosophy is his work [Existentialism is a Humanism](https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/sartre/works/exist/sartre.htm) (1946) originally presented as a lecture.
**Sartre Core Ideas on focus on our reunion**
\- Man is condemned to be free\. Once he’s thrown into the world he is compelled to make choices\, wether he wants or not\, that will shape his destiny and therefore is absolutely responsible for everything he does\.
\- Man s Existence precedes its Essence\. Man is a project in permanent construction\.
\- Man is nothing other than whatever he makes of himself\.
\- There s no destiny\, nor mission\, nor higher power to make responsible for our actions\. We are solely responsible for our actions\.
