Between Walls | Bernardo Moreira's SEXTET
Talking about Carlos Paredes is, for me, much more than talking about a genius musician, is talking about someone who had a huge impact on my journey as a musician. The discovery of his work led me, 18 years ago, to edit a album to which I called “to Paredes I confess”, where I proposed to dialogue with him, through some of his wonderful and eternal melodies. After these years, I realize the effect that all this had on me, leading me to explore universes that I thought were so far from mine but that actually touch one actually one. I felt an unexpected desire to celebrate so many trips between the jazz, the fado, the song and the fado of Coimbra and perhaps for all this feel among walls. > 19 years later dived in the vast and rich musical legacy that the master left us and throw the album between walls (2021, Jacc Records), this time, his arrangements and his sextet to meet the Portuguese present in themes such as “António Marinheiro”, “Single of Dawn” or “Serenade in the Tagus”, and closing a cycle of work around the guitarist. "I had an raid for popular music, the Fado de Coimbra, and I began to feel that my way of listening to Carlos Paredes had changed," said Bernardo Moreira, 59, born in a long -term family connection to Lusa in early 2021. Between the renewed listening of Carlos Parede's themes and the work of appropriation and composition, the double -massive of the album. A gravação aconteceu em novembro de 2020, no Convento São Francisco, em Coimbra, cidade à qual o contrabaixista tem ligações familiares, e onde Carlos Paredes nasceu a 16 de fevereiro de 1925.
