International English-language final conference with partners from the ETOM NEB Lab in Berlin

ETOM 2025 pilot conference: Modernism - Progressive Heritage

Towards the end of the program in Berlin, an international English-language final conference with partners from the ETOM NEB Lab is planned. It takes as an opportunity the first initiated ETOM 2025 pilot festival of the ETOM – European Triennial of Modernism. The premiere is presented by the ETOM NEB Lab, which acts as an official laboratory project in the NEB - New European Bauhaus.

A cooperation between BHROX bauhaus reuse / zukunftsgeraeusche with KÉK - The Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Center, ICOMOS international, National Gallery Prague, Slovak Design Center, Estonian Academy of Arts, Architects' Council of Europe and buschfeld.com;

Together with around 40 partners from 15 mainly Central European countries, a planned European cooperation project is intended to pave the way to a “European Triennial of Modernism” (ETOM). The common history of modernity in these countries is based on a variety of examples, sources, protagonists and – even more so today – a variety of actors who are committed to the appreciation of modernity and a sustainable perspective for the preservation of their architectural heritage. They face similar challenges and potential. With trans-European cooperation, they seize the opportunity to pool their goals, exchange methods and go public together. Especially in view of the war in Ukraine, the strengthening of national egoism and increasing social division as well as the awareness of the historical ruptures, the European building culture development of modernity and a lively exchange about this common heritage are proving to be a model for cultural cooperation and cohesion. Modernism is a progressive cultural heritage whose avant-garde architecture, art, urban and social developments are highly topical for the resilience of values and the future of Europe.
