About event
The International Discussion Forum on Democracy and Human Rights announces an open call for the accompanying exhibition "Demo 21".
The call is open to students of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica. XI. HUMAN FORUM year (19-21 November 2024) Strengthening democracy and civil society in the 21st century. The initiator of the forum is the civic platform NIOT in Banská Bystrica.
Topic of the open call: Demo 21
Project curator: Gabriela Birošová
The exhibition project Demo 21 is looking for current works that respond to the theme of strengthening democracy and help to deepen the relationship and awareness of basic values in a democratic society. We are looking for works that are created in the context of the geopolitical environment, such as resistance to rudeness, that communicate and call for respect and reverence for human rights. We are looking for creations that sensitize despite unfavorable prospects and negative trends in art, thus contributing to strengthening democratic values and principles of free expression. We are looking for art that asks questions and seeks solutions to them, as a tool against misinformation in the post-factual era. We are looking for art that does not forget the legacy of November 17 and helps spread, maintain and, in today's context, revive the theme of protecting freedom.
Send the works by 10/11/2024 (until midnight). We will inform you about the selection within 48 hours, after the open call is closed.
The exhibition curator Gabriela Birošová, doctoral student of the Department of IDM, FVU, AU BB, and Matúš Maťátko, assistant professor of the Department of Graphics, FVU, AU BB, oversee the selection of works. The call is open to all mediums of visual art. The forum covers and ensures basic costs, such as transport of works, installation, promotion and printing.
