About event
In the short time of its existence, the Hayes ensemble has become a well-known name on the French cultural scene. The group successfully toured in Germany, Estonia and the USA.
Hayes are musicians who master many genres: from classical and baroque to film music and variety shows. Each member of the group brings to the Yiddish repertoire not only virtuosity and chamber intimacy, not only the brilliance and humor of classical pop, but also all the baggage accumulated over a long and multifaceted musical career.
“Hayes” is a multi-voiced palette of Jewish opera, operetta, film music, pop and folk. This is a multi-genre performance that combines music, song, dance, drama, stand-up comedy and elements of historical research into a single exciting canvas.
The word “hayes” in Yiddish has many meanings: it is life force, and a thirst for life, and the joy of existence, and natural vitality. This layering perfectly reflects the spirit of the ensemble, which combines a wide range of genres to create powerful shows. At the same time, “Hayes” remains true to the main principles of the Jewish theater, maintaining in each note the three “Is”: intimacy, intensity and improvisation.
This concert is a fascinating journey, full of surprises, into the world of Jewish, Slavic and French music.
The composition of the “Hayes” ensemble:
Elena Yakubsfeld (vocals) - laureate of international competitions, graduate of the Kyiv State University schools of variety and circus arts, a pioneer of Jewish song in independent Ukraine. She performs successfully in the USA, Canada, Israel, Germany, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania and France.
Daria Ulantseva (piano) is a graduate of the legendary Gnessin Institute. She has performed with outstanding musicians and dancers of our time, including Vladimir Spivakov. Her playing on piano, harpsichord and organ captivates audiences in the USA, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy and France.
Alexander Mazin (viola) - devoted himself to music from early childhood. A graduate of the Gnessin School and the Maastricht Conservatory, multi-instrumentalist, winner of the Grand Prix of several international competitions. He performs all over the world both in famous orchestras and with his own chamber ensemble.
