About event
🏠 Are you struggling to find a place to rent in Prague? You’re not alone. The housing market can be tough — especially if you’re new to the country. Language barriers, legal requirements, and high demand can make the process even more challenging.
Join us for a 2-hour workshop led by experts Veronika Kostelecká and Petr Pijáček from SIMI — a human rights organisation supporting expats in the Czech Republic. This workshop will guide you step by step through the rental process. You’ll gain practical tips, real-life examples, and a chance to ask your own questions.
Why attend:
Whether you’ve just arrived in Prague or have been here for a while and still feel overwhelmed by the rental process, this workshop will give you the tools, expert advice, and insider tips you need to find a stable, suitable home.
The workshop is based on the newly launched Rental Housing Manual, developed by SIMI, and expands on it with real-world examples, interactive discussion, and space for your questions.
Key highlights:
Introduction to the Rental Housing Manual — a step-by-step guide tailored for expats and migrantsUnderstanding the housing situation in the Czech Republic, with a focus on PragueBreaking down rent costs — what’s included and what to expect
Where to find listings and how to use housing platforms effectivelyHow to respond to advertisements in a way that gets resultsApartment viewings — what to look for and how to prepare using accommodation checklistsRental agreements — understanding key terms, tenant rights, and legal essentialsMoving out and getting your deposit back — how to handle lease termination properlyQ&A session — bring your questions and get answers tailored to your situation

Petr Pijáček, Head of Social Department (SIMI)
