Title: From Polarization to progression: communication about the protein transition in troubled times

Objective:

The aim of the expert meeting is to gather insights into the dynamics surrounding polarization in the protein transition. How can we communicate about the protein transition without digging in our heels?

Background:

The protein transition – the shift to more plant-based and sustainable protein sources – is an essential part of making our food system more sustainable. Retailers have committed to the ambitious goal of increasing the share of consumed vegetable proteins from 40% to 60% by 2030. However, this theme increasingly provokes sharp reactions and divisions. Consumers, farmers, policymakers and action groups regularly find themselves diametrically opposed to each other. This polarization could hinder the progress of the transition. How can we create images that transcend these divisions and contribute to a shared solution?
