The NeoKlasik Orchestra is preparing another concert called Fantazie s Martinů, which will commemorate the "honorary" membership of Bohuslav Martinů in the Mánes Music Group as part of the Year of Czech Music.
The program presents the collective work of the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů, who drew inspiration for his work during his study stay in Paris. Here he was most influenced by the French composer and teacher Albert Roussel, in whose honor the Serenade for flute, harp and string trio from 1925 will be performed. This work contains distinctive elements of French impressionism and neoclassicism, which are typical for Martinů. His affinity for impressionism is noticeable, for example, in Chamber Music No. 1, which is a neo-impressionist piece for six instruments that Martinů composed in the last year of his life.
Martinů was also not afraid of various experiments in music, which will form the second part of the program. Already during the Second World War in the USA, he was interested in technology and electronic music, which was most reflected in his Fantasia from 1944. In this work, he used an exclusive musical instrument called the theremin, which sounds without the player touching it in any way. The planned performances of this work will also be enhanced by the fact that the first Czech performer Martin Jaroš will play the theremin, who made his debut in cooperation with the NeoKlasik orchestra at this year's Zažít Martinů festival in Polič.
After the concerts, there will be an informal discussion, during which the audience will be able to try playing the theremin.
