MAKING CINEMA: Meeting with Saro Cosentino / Setkání se Sarem Cosentinem

The Italian Cultural Institute is pleased to invite you to a meeting dedicated to one of the most fascinating professions in cinema: musical composition for the big screen.

Guest of the evening will be Saro Cosentino, Italian composer, musician and producer with an artistic path that crosses blues, electronic music, experimentation and music for images. During his career he has collaborated with artists of national and international importance, including Franco Battiato, with whom he co-wrote the famous song I trains di Tozeur, as well as working with musicians such as Peter Gabriel, Alice, Milva and numerous other protagonists of the international music scene. Since 2006 he has dedicated himself in particular to composing for cinema and documentaries, writing soundtracks for films and documentary works by directors such as Angelo Orlando and Mimmo Calopresti.

Thursday 25 June at 6.00 pm, in the courtyard of the Institute, Saro Cosentino will talk with the Director Marialuisa Pappalardo on the role of the composer in the cinematographic creative process.

Through the story of his professional experience and the screening of some audiovisual extracts taken from his works, the public will have the opportunity to discover how music contributes to building atmospheres, emotions and meanings within a cinematographic work.

The event will take place in Italian with translation into Czech, in an open-air cinema atmosphere, in the courtyard of the Italian Cultural Institute.
