Fascinated and inspired by the repertoire of Nina Simone, Jannemien Cnossen pays tribute to the versatility and artistic courage of Nina Simone from her own musical background as a classical violinist and jazz singer.
Was Nina a pianist? , a jazz, blues or folk singer? Maybe it was all her. Jannemien is accompanied by her 3-piece band. After studying jazz singing and violin at the Conservatory in The Hague, Jannemien played in the theater show Scherzo by Mini and Maxi and since 1998 she has been one of the permanent accompanists of Herman van Veen with which she toured at home and abroad. In 1998 she made her debut as a jazz singer with the CD Jann and in 2016 she made the CD A little Different with songs by Herman van Veen translated into English.
