About event

When it comes to feminism and religion, you are sometimes literally speechless. You hear generalized statements about a religious community and you can't immediately classify what you're hearing. You are confronted with passages that supposedly prescribe a certain image of women or gender relations. One would like to disagree, but the arguments are missing. This is where this workshop comes in.

At our second interreligious workshop on feminism and religion, the focus is on attitude and contradiction. The aim is, on the one hand, to become capable of speaking and theological argumentation in this topic area in your (own) religion. On the other hand, it is about the critical examination of texts, the reduction of reservations and also the ability to contradict general, anti-religious or femo-nationalist statements.

Our speakers Helene Braun @leni_lafayette and Lena Müller @metablabla will look at Jewish and Christian perspectives and consider with us how to deal with critical texts, can deal with accusations or your own insecurity.
In addition to the theological know-how, argumentation trainer Tanja Lammerding will show concrete, practical options for action on how to react in appropriate situations and contradict statements that are hostile to religion and people.

You can expect know-how for dealing with and classifying religious texts and general statements as well as training in argumentation against right-wing, misogynistic, anti-religious and anti-human statements as well as statements that appropriate feminist positions for nationalist goals.

The event is aimed at young adults up to the age of 35 and is carried out in cooperation with the Young Forum of Religions, a project of the Berlin Forum of Religions, and the German Islam Academy e.V.

Lena Müller is a Protestant pastor. After her vicariate, the qualified mathematician and community educator initially worked as a pastor in various communities in Berlin-Neukölln and in the digital space. Since May 2025 she has been responsible for working with children and young people in the Evangelical Church in Berlin and Brandenburg. On Instagram she blogs as @metablabla about her life as a feminist pastor and does educational work about gender equality, inclusion and intersectionality.

Helene Shani Braun is a Jewish theologian and rabbi in training at the Abraham Geiger Kolleg. She is also active in educational and awareness-raising work. She regularly takes part in conversations, podiums and digital formats such as podcasts and documentaries on topics such as interreligious work, feminism, intersectionality, LGBTIQ+ and sustainability. She also covers these topics on her Instagram channel @leni_lafayette. She is a founding member and active part of von Keshet Germany and occasionally writes as a guest author for the Jüdische Allgemeine.
