About event

Femislam is a celebration of women in slam poetry, who have a large presence on the Slovak scene. It is also a possibility to enjoy the best female performers in full force, in one place and with increased intensity!

Come and see an exceptional show at Wave and decide which of the straw girls will become the queen of the evening. The star-studded list with Czech guests will introduce you to:

Potopa Baša: Champion of Slovakia for the year 2023, vice-champion for the year 2022. She finds inspiration in dreams, pop culture and the Internet, mainly, but in humanity as such - her own and other people's joys and pains. He is a straw man. Brain with butter. Semolina porridge. She is Potopa Baša.

Tyč (CZ): She is a young creator on the Czech slam poetry scene. She entered the world of slam for the first time in March 2024, since then she has been slamming all over the Czech Republic and in September of this year she defended her title as a finalist of the Czech Republic Championships. He slurs mostly about the problems of humanity, but usually adds a touch of humor, maybe more, stirs the pot for long minutes, cooks a delicious slur, eats it and doesn't leave a crumb behind. She stands out with her speech, words that can make you laugh, cry, upset, and the art of crazy exaggeration.

Anna Kuna (CZ): Untamed painter and poet, finalist of the Czech Republic slam poetry championships. In her work, she focuses on issues of identity, community and feminism. It explores the female nude and intimacy in its raw form. Her speech is direct, often full of irony and sarcasm. She avoids mainstream humor and treats current topics with wit and depth.

Luna: An exceptional performer and activist who expresses her elusive identity through slam poetry. Her work is characterized by a rich use of metaphors and anaphoras, with which she underlines complex life experiences. As a moon dependent on the light of others, Luna draws inspiration from the people around her and from the daily struggles, not only her own, but those shared by those around her. In her lyrics, political themes, frustration with Slovakian reality and the legacy of laughter and love as important essences of humanity are often heard. She believes that at the end of every story there is an individual - "you", and therefore we are all suitable to be the heroes of her work.

Rexy: Rexy is the unique and only slam drag queen on the Slovak slam scene! She is the queen of makeup and breaking the cardinal rule of Slam Poetry - no costume. However, we will forgive her for her charm and the type of event this time! On stage, she impresses you not only with her playful outfits, but also with her lyrics, through which she reveals the natural femininity of her masculine civilian self. Also the moderator of the entire Femislam.

Don't miss the best of the Czech & Slovak women's slam!
We look forward to seeing you!

The campaign of 16 days of activism against violence against women is an international campaign that originated from the initiative of the first Women's Global Leadership Institute sponsored by the Center for Women's Global Leadership for Women's Global Leadership) in 1991. The founders chose November 25 (Day Against Violence Against Women) as the beginning of the campaign and December 10 (International Human Rights Day) as the end of the campaign because they wanted to symbolically link the violence perpetrated on women and human rights and to emphasize that such violence is a violation of women's human rights.
