About event
The legendary art rock group Fermata returns to the concert stage this fall. Last year was marked by two jubilees – the 70th anniversary of its founder, musician and guitarist Fero Griglák, and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the group. The autumn series of concerts in Slovak cities will thus become a reminder of these anniversaries.
Guitarist and musician Fero Griglák has been one of the leading personalities of the domestic music scene for many decades. With his guitar playing and exceptional playing skills, he gained attention as a sixteen-year-old in the group Prúdy. Even then, he showed his talent as a composer. Well-known songs such as Carriages full of roses, Princess Goldilocks and finally the biggest hit Medulin are still constant and popular songs. Right after that, the young guitarist also shone in the group Collegium Musicum, and together with Marián Varga, Fedor Freš and Dušan Hájk, they recorded one of the most important albums of Slovak popular music, Konvergencie.
Fero Griglák, however, leaves after less than two years in order to realize his musical ideas to an even greater extent. In 1973, he happily meets the keyboard player Tomáš Berk and together they found the group Fermata. They very quickly gained the deserved attention of demanding listeners with their instrumental music, in which they combined elements of progressive rock, jazz rock and harder rock. Until 1984, when the first stage of the band's story came to an end, they released seven studio albums, on which they developed various musical themes, from classics on their debut album to folklore on the album Piesen z hól, as well as the concept of explorers of new corners of the earth on the album White planet, or tragic the story of the mountain climbing expedition on the album Huascaran, which still resonates in the listeners' ears as the group's best work.
Since the beginning of the nineties, the group has continued with breaks, this time under the authorship of Fer Griglák, releasing several more albums Simile, Real Time or X. So far, the last Blumenthal blues album from 2019 brought Griglák and Berka together again, so much so that they are currently preparing its sequel with the characteristic name Backstage, based on the reworking of the original stage music that they prepared for the largest theaters in Slovakia.
< br/>.“We will be playing a varied selection of songs from 1976 to the present. We are very much looking forward to the concerts after a two-year break and I hope we will not disappoint our fans," says guitarist Fero Griglák about the upcoming concerts. Alongside him, bassist Tamász Belicza, keyboard player Matej Mikloš and drummer Igor "Teo" Skovay will appear on stage.
Price: advance sale (until 20/12/2024) €20, after 20/12 2024 €25. You can buy tickets on our website, Ticketlive.sk and in the Information Center on Náměstí sv. Trinity
