Event by: Netzwerk Naturwissen-Museum für Naturkunde Berlin
Location: Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, Invalidenstraße 43, Berlin - Mitte
About event
Fermentation is more than an ancient method for Preservation of food – it is a symbol of transformation, community and living processes. Just as microorganisms transform vegetables into aromatic foods, our approach to nutrition and agriculture can also change: towards more mindfulness, cycles and connection with what we eat. In the workshop we will immerse ourselves in the fascinating world of lacto-fermentation: a process that shows how something new is created from raw things and how nutrients, taste and community can ferment and grow at the same time.
To start with Stefan Weigert with a theoretical introduction to the basics of lacto-fermentation, followed by a tasting to experience the diversity of microbial cultures. In the second part we get into the action ourselves and make our own vegetable ferment. Finally, there is an insight into the sweet fermentation with honey.
When: Tuesday, February 10th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Museum für Naturkunde Berlin
