🧡 WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT 🧡
The atmosphere of a multi-day festival, but in one day. That's festive. It is a real balfolk happening. CanDance Studios has a beautiful Grand Ballroom for 400 dancers and a nice wooden dance floor, a bar and separate workshop rooms.
Come dance and enjoy wonderful music, great workshops and fun extras.

★ You don't need to have any dance experience or special clothing to to participate
★ Easy to reach and nice dance location
★ Live music from the best Balfolk musicians
★ A musical journey with quiet, sometimes romantic music alternating with energetic songs
★ Considering the eight easy-to-learn basic dances: Jig (mixer), Scottish (partner dance), Mazurka (partner dance), Magic Circle (mixer), Andro (group dance), Hanterdro (group dance), Waltz (partner dance) and Bourrée (row of couples)

★ Free beginners workshop - from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM
For everyone who is new to Balkfolk, we have a free dance workshop before the ball. beginners.
During the workshop you will learn the steps of the most important Balfolk dances. This way you can get straight to the ball.
The workshop is given by Amber Wever from Balfolk Hoorn.
Jeroen Geerinck accompanies the workshop with live music.
★ Paid workshop irregular waltzes - from 13:30 till 15:30
In this workshop teachers Sara & Paulo will help you move from the beats-counting into the fun having. They will guide you into understanding musicality, musical phrases, posture, and the myriad of possibilities within irregular waltzes.
After this workshop you'll never sweat again once you hear “valse a 8 temps!”.

You can park for free in the streets around the location. It is easily accessible by public transport. You can walk there from Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station in +/-15 minutes. Or take the bus that leaves from the station every 10 minutes.
💜 NEW IN BALFOLK? 💜
Balfolk is a social dance. Comparable to Salsa, Tango or Lindyhop, but based on Western European folk music. With balfolk there are no shows or competitions, just dancing like they used to do at village festivals and weddings. With family and friends. From young to old. Everyone dances along. You don't need a permanent partner. You can ask anyone to dance. And you can be asked to dance by anyone. Or you can join one of the group dances yourself.
Everyone is welcome to come and dance in Balfolk. You don't need to have any dance experience to participate. You can be who you are and you don't have to have special clothes or shoes. We want everyone to feel free to be themselves and feel safe to indicate what they need. to have. That is why we think it is important that everyone who comes to a Balfolk event is aware of a number of dance guidelines.
