⚖️ We invite you to the third of a series of professional breakfasts within the framework of the Rule of Law Festival 2024 on the state of the rule of law in Slovakia in the context of human rights.
⚖️ In cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia, we will be on Tuesday, October 29 in the premises of ZEK at Palisády 19 in Bratislava to discuss media freedom and the protection of journalists in Slovakia. This discussion is held as part of Media and Information Literacy Week.
🗯 Come have a good breakfast and learn more about the relationship between the rule of law and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. With our guests, we will address the current framework for the protection of freedom of expression at the European level and their impact at the national level, including the protection of journalists from strategic lawsuits against public participation (so-called retaliatory lawsuits - SLAPP), or the support of media freedom through the European Act on media freedom.
⚖️ The breakfast program consists of a presentation by Mr. Professor Lucia Mokrej, dean of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the Comenius University in Bratislava, who will focus on the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU. This will be followed by a panel discussion with the participation of:
